Mini moon hotels in Scotland

Castles, lochs and Highland hideaways, plus Edinburgh for a city minimoon.

Scotland gives you two very different minimoons. Edinburgh is a city break with historic hotels, good restaurants and a castle on every skyline. The Highlands and islands are the opposite: lochs, mountains and remote hotels where the main plan is the view.

Distances are big, so pick one area. Loch Lomond and Perthshire are within about an hour or two of Glasgow and Edinburgh; Skye and the far north take most of a day to reach.

When to go: May to September has the longest days. Winter is dark early but cosy, and the Highlands can be snowy.
