Minimoon hotels in the Cotswolds

Honey-stone villages and country house hotels, the easiest minimoon to reach from London and the Midlands.

The Cotswolds is a protected landscape of rolling hills and stone villages spread across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. It is classic short-break country for couples from London, Bristol and Birmingham: about two to two and a half hours' drive from central London, and less from Bristol and Birmingham.

Expect country house hotels with walled gardens, spas and serious restaurants rather than wild scenery. It suits a minimoon that is about rest and good food.

When to go: Lovely all year. Spring and early summer gardens are at their best; winter is cosy and quieter.
